Joe Farrell was born in Brooklyn and raised on the mean streets of Queens, New York. He first came to Pennsylvania to attend college, loved Pennsylvania, and never returned. He graduated from St. Vincent College in Latrobe Pa. with a degree in Psychology. He did outstanding graduate work at two prestigious Pennsylvania Universities (Indiana and Shippensburg), studying Clinical Psychology and Public Administration.
All three school are proud of him and frequently call and write to him and seek his advice about various issues, ask for money, and offer him special deals. Mr. Farrell has had a long and successful career in government and in two Fortune 500 companies as a high level manager and advocate for consumers. He started as a staff psychologist at Pennsylvania’s Maximum security prison in Pittsburgh and after a few years was promoted to the Department of Corrections headquarters in Harrisburg. He later worked in the Governor’s Office where he met and hired his co-author Joe Farley. Farrell moved on to the Pa. Public Utility Commission where he fought for consumers as the first Director of the newly created Bureau Consumer Services and once again hired Joe Farley. In his final 6 years at the Pa. PUC Farrell served as Deputy Executive Director before leaving to the private sector where he worked for two large electric companies as Manager of Customer Satisfaction. Once all their customers were satisfied Farrell returned to public service and presently serves as Executive Director of The Disciplinary Board of The Supreme Court of Pa. Joe Farrell is also author of the critically acclaimed “Confessions Of A Catholic Schoolboy” published in 2009. “Confessions Of A Catholic Schoolboy” is a humorous memoir of growing up and attending Catholic Schools in the tumultuous 1960’s.
Joe Farley was born and raised in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the last graduating class at Hazleton Saint Gabriel’s and was the starting point guard on the school’s StateChampionship basketball team. While at Saint Gabriel’s Mr. Farley demonstrated his academic prowess by graduating 37th in his class of 40. He then attended college at Bloomsburg University where, after four very dimly remembered years, he graduated with a degree in education.
In 1975, Mr. Farley was hired by Joe Farrell to work in the Governor’s Action Center. Nine years later Farrell would repeat his mistake by hiring Mr. Farley to work for him at the Public Utility Commission. On May 21, 2010, after 35 years of state service he retired. Mr. Farley has not returned to work because he has been unable to find a cushy high paying position like Joe Farrell’s. In addition, Mr. Farrell has apparently learned from his past mistakes as he has not attempted to hire Mr. Farley a third time. As a result Mr. Farley has concentrated his efforts at co-authoring his books Keystone Tombstones.
